Donate to Cumbria’s Museum of Military Life

Your donation, our legacy

Our Museum relies on generous donations from people like you.

Cumbria’s Museum of Military Life has a commitment to communicate the history of Cumbria’s military to all generations and to preserve the history of ordinary people who did extraordinary things over an incredible 300+ year history.

By donating to Cumbria’s Museum of Military Life, you become an integral part of preserving this history for future generations.

Why should I donate?

We exist thanks to the generosity of people like you.

Cumbria’s Museum of Military Life is run by a charitable trust (No. 271943) and a small dedicated team of staff and volunteers.

Our main source of funding comes from admission charges, so we rely on many forms of fundraising to keep the Museum open, protect the collections and preserve the history.

Your donations play a pivotal role in sustaining and expanding our efforts to curate, preserve, and present our county’s military history. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us to educate, inspire, and commemorate our soldiers, past and present.

By giving today, you will directly support us in our mission to preserve their legacies for generations to come.

Your support matters

With your support, we can:

Continued preservation: Your donations aid in the acquisition and preservation of various artefacts documents, photographs and other items that capture Cumbria’s military life.

Enhance educational initiatives: Donations facilitate learning opportunities and educational programmes that engage visitors of all ages to help foster a deeper understanding of our military’s heritage.

Sustaining operations: Your contributions enable us to keep the museum accessible to all and maintain our historical building, from upkeep to utilities.

Build awareness: Donations help us invest in marketing initiatives and social media campaigns that allow us to reach a wider audience and raise much needed awareness about our museum’s mission and the rich history it holds.

Engage with the community: Your support allows us to engage with our local community and inspire younger generations to explore and appreciate their heritage.

Improve exhibits and interpretation: Contributions go towards developing our exhibits and interpretation methods to enhance visitor experience and provide deeper insights into Cumbria’s military history.

Veterans: As part of our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant, some of your donation will go towards supporting veteran activities organised by the Museum, such as lunches.
