Cumbria’s only military Museum is celebrating its 90th birthday on Wednesday 7th December! For one day only, as part of its birthday celebrations, the Museum will be open between 10:00am to 2:00 charging only sixpence for entry, the original admission price in 1932.
As part of the celebrations, the Museum will be offering free short tours for visitors on this day, highlighting some of the collections on display. The Museum is keen for visitors to be part of the celebrations. ‘90 years ago, the Museum collections were formed of items donated by soldiers and officers who had returned from the First World War. Their aim was to encourage recruits to learn about their Regimental history. Today, the collections offer us valuable insight into the lives of a soldier from 1702 to present day’ explains Jules Wooding, Museum Manager.
