I would like to visit the Museum – How do I book my tickets?

Can I just visit the Museum and not the Castle?
No! Due to restrictions on site, all tickets are joint tickets to both sites bookable through English Heritage – https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/carlisle-castle/
What hours will the site be open?
We are open 10am to 5pm however the last admission to the site is at 3pm
Will it be safe to visit the Museum?
Yes, we have risk assessed the Museum and put systems in place to ensure the safety of our visitors. These include social distancing, regular cleaning, and the availability of hand sanitiser in the gallery. Click the link to view our Risk Assessment
Are there toilet facilities available on-site?
Yes, toilets will be available in the inner ward of the Castle and at the Museum, including a disabled toilet.
Will I be able to get a drink and a sandwich?
Yes. John Watts café, located in the Museum, will be open 11am to 3.30pm daily. There will be limited inside seating, but takeaways will be available.
Can I go out of the Castle complex and use my ticket to come back on-site?
Once on-site you will have to remain on-site until you have finished your visit.
We have a blue badge can we park on-site?
There is blue badge parking on-site but please ensure you have booked your site ticket before you arrive.
Is your shop open?
Yes. However, you can purchase items on-line. Visit Our Shop
Can someone help me with an enquiry if I come on a visit?
Due to visitor restrictions and social distancing, it will not be possible to deal with enquiries on-site. Please email your initial enquiry to: enquiries@cmoml.org
Will a visit be suitable for families?
We are unable to offer our interactives but you can download our child-friendly gallery sheet here to bring with you (don’t forget a pencil!).
We also have baby changing facilities in our disabled toilet
