Tactics and Teamwork: Football in the British Army
Thursday 29th September – Sunday 20th November 2022The new touring exhibition explores the important connection between football and the Army. It is a collaborative project between Cumbria’s Museum of Military Life, Lancashire Infantry Museum and the Fusilier Museum, with support from the National Football Museum and Cumbria Archive Service.
The exhibition project has been funded by Army Museums Ogilby Trust (AMOT), in partnership with Sporting Heritage CIC and is part of a nationwide Sporting Heritage and the Armed Forces programme, to develop a greater understanding of the relationship between sport and the armed forces.
The portable display contains many fascinating items focusing on the popularity of football in the Army, how it keeps soldiers fit and their morale high as well as preparing them for combat, exploring football in both the First World War and the Second World War.
