Description

My Dad’s Army: The White Gurkas – The Story of the 9th Battalion of the Border Regiment 1940-1945

Compiled by Ian Wilson

Ian Wilson was born in 1947, but he talked to his father who had served with 9 Border about his WW2 experiences in Burma. It was from these accaounts that he drew together the men of 9 Border for an annual reunion and his gift of listening to their stories subsequently led to this book being written. He also produced a newsletter for them called Thik Hai, an Indian Army greeting they were all familiar with.

The last reunion was held in Carlisle Castle in 2004.
