Description

By Stuart Eastwood commemorating the Regimental history up to its amalgamation into the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment (King’s, Lancashire and Border). Supported by over 450 photographs, this detailed work chronicles the history, traditions, achievements and personalities of the Regiment and both its Regular and Territorial Army Battalions.

Since 1959, the Regiment has served in a variety of roles from that of normal infantry, to rapid reaction troops, with the United Nations and NATO and as armoured infantry, much of this at the heart of the British Army’s peace-keeping operations around the world. The book records this service of the 1st Battalion in the UK, Cameroons, Germany, British Guiana, Aden, Cyprus, the many tours of Northern Ireland, the Falklands, Belize, Bosnia, Macedonia, and Iraq. The awards of the Wilkinson Sword of Peace in 1994 and 1999 reflect the service and professionalism of the Regiment on these operations.

The Regiment’s Territorial soldiers have consistently excelled in their home defence role, in TA shooting, athletics and military skills competitions and in support of the Regular Army since 1997; reinforcing the 1st Battalion’s on operations in the Balkans & Iraq.  A4 size hardback, full colour dust-wrapper, 256 pages, 49 colour and 407 black and white photographs.
