‘An intelligent understanding of its traditions’ – The Evolution of a Military Museum in Carlisle Castle

This talk explores why a military museum was established in the Castle, and how this modern-day visitor attraction has evolved over the past 90 years. Using documents, photographs, and newspaper reports the talk will chart the development of the Military Museum from its inception when the Castle was an active military base to the contemporary museum of today.
This talk kicks off a series of events to mark Cumbria’s Museum of Military Life’s 90th Birthday
All our Tuesday Talks start promptly at 6:00pm and last for approximately 1 hour.
Tickets are £5.00 if booked in advance, or £4.00 for members of our Friends Group.
